Eduardo Cazap (MD, PhD, FASCO) nombrado nuevo Editor jefe de ecancermedicascience
Después de doce años de excelente servicio y entrega a la causa de romper las barreras lingüísticas y financieras para sostener un acceso gratuito o de bajo coste a la información sobre el cáncer y la educación, ecancermedicalscience dice adiós al Pr. Gordon McVie, nuestro editor jefe desde 2007. Es un honor para nosotros presentar a Eduardo Cazap (MD, PhD, FASCO) como nuevo editor en jefe.
El Prof. Gordon McVie y el Prof. Umberto Veronesi, nuestros fundadores y editores, compartieron la misión de mejorar la comunicación y la educación sobre el cáncer rompiendo esas barreras lingüísticas y financieras. Juntos crearon ecancer.org, como una plataforma online, donde compartir nuevos descubrimientos, y una revista médica de libre acceso.
El Prof. Gordon McVie anunció su jubilación como editor jefe a finales de 2018 y continúa colaborando la revista médica como miembro de la Junta Editorial. Todo el equipo de ecancer quiere agradecerle su visión innovadora e inquebrantable apoyo, el cual se ha ido fortaleciendo mas y mas durante estos años.
Nuestro nuevo editor jefe, Eduardo Cazap (MD, PhD, FASCO) tomara posesión del cargo el día 1 de Abril de 2019. Estamos encantados de poder trabajar con él, veterano y respetado miembro de la Junta Editorial, cuya perspectiva ha sido de un valor inestimable. El Dr. Cazap cuenta con una clara visión sobre la revista médica, la cual esta muy alineada con las metas de ecancer Global Fundation.
Nacido en Buenos Aires, Eduaro Cazap aporta 40 años de experiencia a ecancermedicalscience. Es el fundador y primer presidente de de la Sociedad Latino Americana y del Caribe de Oncología Médica (SLACOM), fue elegido miembro de la junta directiva de American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) y fue presidente de la Union for Internacional Cancer Control (UICC) desde 2010 a 2012. El Dr. Cazap está especializado en cáncer de mama y cáncer cervical. Pero, esta especialmente centrado en el control del cáncer al nivel global y de las políticas publicas sobre cáncer, y su plan para liderar ecancermedicalscience consiste en construir y desarrollar el impacto en estas áreas.
“El cáncer es, hoy, un problema para toda la sociedad, y el control del cáncer se ha convertido en uno de los principales núcleos de las políticas públicas”, dice Eduardo Cazap. “Preveo, junto con el excepcional equipo de ecancer, un nuevo periodo de expansión en los próximos años”.

Dr Eduardo Cazap appointed as the new Editor-in-Chief of ecancer
After twelve years of leading the cause of making cancer information and education accessible to everyone,ecancer bids a grateful farewell to Prof Gordon Mcvie as Editor-in-Chief.
ecancer was founded by Prof Gordon McVie and Prof Umberto Veronesi in 2007. They shared a mission to improve cancer communication and education by breaking down geographical and financial barriers. Together, they created ecancer as an open access journal featuring multi-media content, such as video interviews with international cancer experts and online educational modules, all available for free.
Prof Gordon McVie announced his retirement from the role of Editor-in-Chief at the end of 2018 but will continue to support the journal as a member of the Editorial Board. The whole ecancer team would like to thank him for his pioneering vision and unwavering support of the journal which has taken it from strength to strength over the years.
Prof McVie will be succeeded in post by Dr Eduardo Cazap MD, PhD, FASCO.
We are honoured to welcome our new Editor-in-Chief, Dr Eduardo Cazap, who assumes his duties on the 1st of April 2019. We are excited to work with Dr Cazap, a longstanding and much-esteemed member of our Editorial Board whose insight has been invaluable. Dr Cazap has a clear vision for the journal and the ecancer Global Foundation, the charity which supports it.
A native of Buenos Aires, Dr Cazap brings over forty years of experience to ecancer. He is the founder and the first president of the Latin American & Caribbean Society of Medical Oncology (SLACOM), was elected as a Board Member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and was the president of the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) from 2010 to 2012. Dr Cazap’s main areas of clinical expertise are breast and cervical cancer. He is particularly experienced in global cancer control and the role of cancer in public policy, and he plans to lead ecancer in building on and developing its impact these areas.
"Cancer is, today, a problem for the whole of society, and cancer control has become one of the core principles in public policy," says Dr Cazap. "I envision, together with the exceptional ecancer team, a new period of expansion in the coming years."
"Few folk are as 'global' as Dr Cazap!" says Professor McVie. "I shall be on the touchline watching and advising the outstanding ecancer team, and look forward to the leadership of Eduardo Cazap."

El primer número en 2019 ha sido publicado. Un editorial y un consenso de expertos chinos ofrecen los avances y perspectivas en la aplicación clínica de la secuenciación de la próxima generación. Otro editorial reporta un gran avance en la expansión in vitro de hepatocitos primarios humanos. Revisión de Jianguo Chen et al. muestra la tendencia epidemiológica y los factores de riesgo del cáncer de hígado en Qidong, un área con alta incidencia. Lo que es más, dos investigaciones originales de China son dignas de recomendar. Un estudio sobre hemangiomas capilares reactivos de Xuelian Chen et al. podría despertar la conciencia de las toxicidades de los fármacos en la inmunoterapia. Otro escrito por Xiaohong Wu et al. informa que la mutación BRAF y la clasificación TIRADS podrían ser herramientas para el diagnóstico del cáncer papilar de tiroides. Además, también se presentaron varios resultados recientes de investigaciones básicas y clínicas, especialmente estudios sobre vías de señalización. Cancer Biology & Medicine - Publication of the 1st issue in 2019
The 1st issue in 2019 has been published. An editorial and a Chinese expert consensus offer the advances and insights in clinical application of next-generation sequencing. Another editorial reports a breakthrough in in vitro expansion of human primary hepatocytes. Review of Jianguo Chen et al. shows the epidemiological trend and risk factors of liver cancer in Qidong, an area with high incidence. What’s more, two original researches from China are worthy of recommending. One study on reactive capillary hemangiomas from Xuelian Chen et al. could arouse an awareness of drug toxicities in immunotherapy. Another one written by Xiaohong Wu et al. reports that BRAF mutation and TIRADS classification could be as tools in diagnosis of papillary thyroid cancer. Besides, several latest results from basic and clinical researches were also presented, especially studies on signaling pathways. We hope all of these articles will greatly benefit your research and clinical practice.

Global Health Diplomacy (GHD)
La Global Health Diplomacy (GHD) es un campo de creciente importancia a la luz de la naturaleza transfronteriza de los desafíos de salud y el compromiso de los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible con la cobertura universal de salud.
Al reunir la experiencia en Estudios Diplomáticos y Salud Global, el Departamento ha establecido un nuevo curso acreditado sobre Diplomacia de Salud Global para aquellos que trabajan o consideran trabajar en este campo. El curso está diseñado tanto para personas con conocimientos y experiencia en diplomacia o desarrollo internacional (con gobiernos, sociedad civil o en cualquier otro lugar) como para atención médica y profesionales afines.
El objetivo del curso es proporcionar un marco tanto teórico como práctico, equipar a los participantes para que participen de manera efectiva en las negociaciones diplomáticas de salud globales y maximizar el impacto de esas negociaciones en la implementación y sostenibilidad de las iniciativas y políticas de salud global. El plan de estudios tendrá en cuenta el impulso hacia respuestas políticas más concertadas para reducir las amenazas mundiales para la salud y mejorar la gobernanza de los sistemas de salud, consciente de la correlación socioeconómica entre la salud, el alivio de la pobreza y el desarrollo y el efecto que ha tenido el aumento de los costos de la atención de salud pública sobre políticas fiscales y presupuestos nacionales.

Global Health Diplomacy (GHD)
Global Health Diplomacy (GHD) is a field of growing importance in light of the transboundary nature of health challenges and the Sustainable Development Goals’ commitment to Universal Health Coverage.
Bringing together Diplomatic Studies and Global Health expertise, the Department has established a new accredited course on Global Health Diplomacy for those working or considering working in this field. The course is designed both for those with knowledge and experience of diplomacy or international development (with governments, civil society or elsewhere) and for health care and allied professionals.
The course aims to provide both a theoretical and practical framework, equipping participants to engage effectively in global health diplomatic negotiations and to maximise the impact of those negotiations on the delivery and sustainability of global health initiatives and policy. The curriculum will take account of the drive for more concerted policy responses to reduce global health threats and to improve governance of health systems, aware of the socio-economic correlation between health, poverty alleviation and development and the effect that rising public health care costs has on fiscal policies and national budgets.

Los objetivos de la reunión están diseñados para presentar al público la información más reciente sobre terapias dirigidas, inmunoterapias y tratamientos emergentes en el desarrollo temprano. You are invited to attend the 8th InterAmerican Oncology Conference “Current Status and Future of Anti-Cancer Therapies” that will be held in Buenos Aires, Argentina on October 17th and 18th, 2019.
An outstanding faculty of speakers from the United States and Europe has committed to participate in this meeting. The conference agenda will focus on new translational advances in the treatment of cancer as well as provide updates of conventional therapies for a number of the most common tumor types.
The meeting objectives are designed to introduce the audience to the latest information on targeted therapies, immunotherapies, and emerging treatments in early development. The major emphasis will be on clinical aspects of cancer treatment in the 21st century with discussion of significant scientific advances underlying the novel approaches still in preclinical development.
This meeting is the primary opportunity for practicing oncologists, hematologists, urologists, basic clinical and translational investigators, scientists and cancer related health care workers to participate in a conference focusing on novel targeted therapies and other treatment advances which are changing the face of cancer care.
