Premio SLACOM 2019
El Dr. Henry L. Gómez Moreno ha sido galardonado con el Premio SLACOM 2019, por su trayectoria profesional y encomiable labor como Investigador Clínico. Es de destacar su liderazgo en la investigación y lucha contra el cáncer en Latinoamérica, siendo reconocido no solo en nuestra región sino también Internacionalmente.
Nos complace y nos honra entregar este premio, que es el reconocimiento al esfuerzo y trabajo diario del premiado como así también a muchos colegas que realizan una ardua y silenciosa tarea.
La entrega del mismo se llevó a cabo el día viernes 31 de Mayo, de 16 a 18 hs. durante la reunión de la Escuela Latinoamericana de Oncología (ELO) durante la reunión de ASCO
SLACOM 2019 Award
Dr. Henry L. Gómez Moreno has been awarded the SLACOM 2019 Award, for his professional career and commendable work as a Clinical Investigator. His leadership in the research and fight against cancer in Latin America stands out, being recognized not only in our region but also internationally.
We are pleased and honored to deliver this award, which is recognition of the effort and daily work of the award winner as well as many colleagues who perform an arduous and silent task.
The award was bestowed on Friday May 31, from 4 to 6 pm. during the meeting of the Latin American School of Oncology (ELO) during the ASCO meeting.

Cancer Biology & Medicine - Publicación del 2º número en 2019.
En el segundo número de Cancer Biology & Medicine, un editorial invitado por el Prof. Xiubao Ren comenta la investigación de vanguardia sobre el supresor inmunitario Siglec-15 y presenta sus perspectivas y perspectivas profundas. Apoyado por un gran estudio de base poblacional, la profesora Martha L. Slattery et al. Compuso una revisión que analiza el papel funcional de los miRNAs y el cáncer colorrectal. Cancer Biology & Medicine - Publication of the 2nd issue in 2019
In the 2nd issue of Cancer Biology & Medicine, an invited editorial by Prof. Xiubao Ren comments the breakthrough research on immune suppressor Siglec-15 and presents his deep perspective and insights. Supported by a large population-based study, Prof. Martha L. Slattery et al. composed a review which discusses the functional role of miRNAs and colorectal cancer. Clinical studies in this issue involve the role of telmisartan in melanoma, effects of palbociclib in treatment of oral squamous cell carcinoma, and survival outcomes of NSCLC patients initiated on afatinib, etc. Meanwhile, some featured basic researches, such as HBx in hepatocarcinogenesis, are also included.

EULAC PerMed llevará a cabo una ESCUELA DE VERANO
en Investigación de Medicina Personalizada en Sistemas de Salud
El curso está dirigido a investigadores de países de la UE y de América Latina y el Caribe (LAC) y ofrecerá herramientas y conocimientos para fortalecer sus habilidades en medicina personalizada.
Veinte investigadores de países de la UE y de ALC, principalmente de países de ALC, participarán en una “escuela de verano” con el objetivo de adquirir los conocimientos y habilidades adecuados que les permitirán evaluar el impacto de la investigación sobre medicina personalizada en los Sistemas de Salud de sus países.
Organizado por el consorcio EULAC PerMed, en colaboración con el Instituto de Salud Carlos III (ISCIII), la “Escuela de verano” de EULAC PerMed tiene como objetivo compartir y mejorar el conocimiento de las principales líneas de investigación de PM, ayudando a crear redes de investigación entre países de la UE y ALC y mejorar el enfoque multidisciplinar en estos campos de investigación.
La "escuela de verano" tendrá lugar los días 7 y 8 de noviembre de 2019, en Madrid, y será impartida por expertos altamente calificados. El evento será "consecutivo" con el segundo taller ICPerMed "Medicina personalizada para todos los ciudadanos y pacientes dentro de la implementación sostenible" en la Escuela Nacional de Sanidad en las instalaciones del Instituto Nacional de Salud Carlos III (ISCII), Monforte de Lemos 5 - 28029 Madrid, ESPAÑA.
El evento Escuela de Verano/Capacitación está abierto a participantes de todos los países de la UE y de LAC, que se evaluarán y admitirán de forma competitiva y con un equilibrio geográfico.
El EULAC-PerMed otorgará una beca a 6 participantes de la región de LAC. Los participantes de LAC que deseen solicitar una beca deben indicarlo en su carta de motivación al enviar su solicitud..

EULAC PerMed will hold a SUMMER SCHOOL
on Personalised Medicine Research in Health Systems
The course is aimed at researchers from EU and Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) countries and will offer tools and knowledge to strengthen their Personalised Medicine skills
Twenty researchers from EU and LAC countries — primarily those from LAC countries— will participate in a “Summer school” with the aim of acquiring the appropriate knowledge and skills that will allow them to assess the impact of the research on Personalised Medicine in their countries’ Health Systems.
Organised by the EULAC PerMed consortium, in collaboration with Instituto de Salud Carlos III (ISCIII), the EULAC PerMed “ Summer School” aims to share and improve the knowledge on the main lines on PM research, helping create research networks between EU & LAC countries and to improve the multidisciplinary approach in these research field.
The “Summer school” will take take place on the 7th and 8th November 2019, in Madrid, and will be taught by high qualified experts.
The event will be “back to back” with the 2nd ICPerMed workshop “Personalised Medicine for all citizens and patients within Sustainable Implementation” at the Escuela Nacional de Sanidad on the premises of the National Institute of Health Carlos III (ISCII), Monforte de Lemos 5 – 28029 Madrid, SPAIN.
The Summer School/Training event is open to participants from all EU and LAC countries, which will be evaluated and admitted on a competitive basis and with a geographic balance.
The EULAC-PerMed will award a scholarship to 6 participants from the LAC region. LAC participants wishing to apply for a scholarship must state so in their motivation letter when submitting their application.

WORKSHOP DEL NODO ARGENTINO DEL HUMAN VARIOME PROJECT 2019
Noviembre 22-24, 2019 – Buenos Aires, Argentina
El Human Variome Project es una ONG internacional que mantiene relaciones operativas con la Organización para la Educación, la Ciencia y la Cultura de las Naciones Unidas (UNESCO) y trabaja para garantizar que toda la información de variantes genéticas y su efecto sobre la salud humana pueda recogerse, curada, interpretada y compartida libre y abiertamente.
El Nodo Argentino del Human Variome Project es un servicio nacional para compartir datos de variantes genéticas humanas con el objetivo de mejorar la atención clínica de los pacientes y apoyar la investigación médica.
El nodo consiste en un repositorio digital y seguro más una colección de distintas herramientas aplicadas para el uso de esta súper base de datos. Este nodo es la contribución argentina unida a otros esfuerzos internacionales de colección global de datos.
El nodo local comenzó su actividad en 2016 y recibió la confirmación final el 7 de noviembre de 2016 tras haber recibido la autorización del Human Variome Project International Confederation of Countries Advisory Council (ICCAC) y con el apoyo del Ministerio de Salud de la Nación. Desde la presentación en la reunión de la UNESCO 2016, recibimos el apoyo de la Asociación Médica Argentina, con el estímulo del Presidente Miguel Galmés.

WORKSHOP OF THE ARGENTINE NODE OF THE HUMAN VARIOME PROJECT 2019
November 22-24, 2019 – Buenos Aires, Argentina
The Human Variome Project is an international NGO that maintains operational relations with the Organization for Education, Science and Culture of the United Nations (UNESCO) and works to ensure that all information on genetic variants and their effect on human health can be collected, cured, interpreted and shared freely and openly.
The Argentine Node of the Human Variome Project is a national service to share data of human genetic variants with the aim of improving the clinical care of patients and supporting medical research.
The node consists of a secure digital repository plus a collection of different tools applied to the use of this super database. This node is the Argentine contribution together with other international efforts of global data collection.
The local node started its activity in 2016 and received the final confirmation on November 7, 2016 after receiving authorization from the Human Variome Project International Confederation of Countries Advisory Council (ICCAC) and with the support of the Ministry of Health of the Nation. Since the presentation at the UNESCO 2016 meeting, we received the support of the Argentine Medical Association, with the encouragement of President Miguel Galmés.
They initially support the initiatives of the Argentine Node to improve the quality of the database to share genetic variants, both locally and internationally, these scientific societies:

La Asociación de Cáncer de Omán (OCA) tiene el honor de organizar el próximo Congreso Mundial sobre el Cáncer del 20 al 22 de octubre de 2020. Esta será la primera vez que el Congreso se llevará a cabo en la región MENA-EMRO..
"El Camino a Seguir" es el tema del Congreso Mundial sobre el Cáncer de 2020, destacando, muy importante, la necesidad de que nuestra región trabaje hacia un futuro libre de cáncer. Las oportunidades de redes y las sesiones informativas guiarán e inspirarán la agenda de control del cáncer de la región, hasta el próximo Congreso y más allá.
La UICC cree en una respuesta integral al control mundial del cáncer, apoyando a sus miembros y a la comunidad del cáncer para que trabajen juntos para lograr un impacto positivo en los pacientes, sobrevivientes, proveedores de atención médica y otros voluntarios y cuidadores que manejan la carga diaria de esta enfermedad. Estamos encantados de ser socios y anfitriones de una organización tan noble.

2020 World Cancer Congress in Oman

The Oman Cancer Association (OCA) is honored to host the next World Cancer Congress on 20 - 22 October, 2020. This will be the first time that the Congress will be held in MENA-EMRO region.
‘The Way Forward’ is the theme for the 2020 World Cancer Congress, highlighting, quite importantly, the need for our region to work towards a future free from cancer. Networking opportunities and informative sessions will guide and inspire the region’s cancer control agenda, until the next Congress and beyond.
UICC believes in a holistic response to global cancer control, supporting its members and the cancer community in working together for positive impact for patients, survivors, health care providers, and other volunteers and carers managing the daily burden of this disease. We are thrilled to be partners and hosts to such a noble organisation.

Each issue of the journal will contain a series of timely in-depth reviews written by leaders in the field and clinical cases.
